THE HISTORY OF MANTECA MANTECA HISTORY In 1949, the Post Office plans to deliver city mail to Manteca Since the town was incorporated, Maro Litchfield has served as city marshal up to the present time. He has offered his resignation from the position. Since the salary was too low, he resigned from the city trusteeship because he didn't like the office. The office will be filled by F. M. Roundtree, according to Mayor Joshua Cowell. All plans have been finalized for the joint annual dinner for the chamber of commerce and Lion's Club to be held at Hotel Manteca tonight at 7 p.m. Toastmaster will be Dr. A. J. Whitaker, Lions Club president, and the speaker will be L.M. Morris from Modesto. Last Thursday noon at the Hotel Manteca, A. H. Veith, former president of the Manteca Chamber of Commerce, handed over the gavel to his successor, F. Y. Kraft.
